‘After countless weekends away, always trying to find the perfect, most remote and secluded cabin to rent, we decided that we could do better ourselves. And so, at the start of 2019 we started searching for a piece of land. We wanted a property with nothing on it, no developments, a place that was untouched by farming… a property we could change into a nature reserve to protect one of the last pockets of nature not yet developed. After an extensive search we found Wolwehoek,’ say the owners.

‘We discovered the property by chance – the sale of this reserve had fallen though, and we had already viewed 10 other properties. Within 30 minutes, we knew it was for us, the only trace of man being the single-track road through the property. It was exactly what we had been searching for.

‘We built Leopard’s Kloof, our tented cabin, first and then spent two years getting permission to build our new two-bedroomed cabin, Leopard’s Vantage. In that time, we spent countless hours on site to make sure we maximised the magnificent mountain views and were going to give guests as comfortable an experience as possible, with seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The colour palette was dictated by nature and the mountains around us. We didn’t want Vantage to stand out from the mountains surrounding it – it was designed to blend in.
