about perfect hideaways invest

In these frenetic times of information overload there’s a nostalgic longing to live more simply, at least for regular spells throughout the year. A yearning perhaps to purchase a beach house where the kids can come and go freely with sandy feet, a sweet idyll with a pool set amongst the mountains or buy an authentic African bush lodge to share with only loved ones and the local wildlife. A place one can satisfy the urge to decamp from the city and fill days with reading, hiking or the sweetness of doing nothing at all. It’s a global property investment trend, and South Africa is part of it.

From bush to beach, from mountains to veld, Perfect Hideaways has a unique portfolio of over 300 handpicked escapes for sharing precious holiday time. But while it’s one thing to rent a beautiful property, it’s quite another to own your own, and something many of us dream of – and an increasing number make their reality.

Which is why Perfect Hideaways has added a property sales division to their highly sought-after rental portfolio of holiday homes. Perfect Hideaways Invest offers a range of homes-from-home for sale in unusual, quaint or highly desirable locations. Many of these are hard to come by if you don’t have access to that word-of-mouth network that continues to bring an astonishing array of properties in places as rarefied as Churchhaven, Groot Paternoster Nature Reserve and Bainskloof Pass, as well as a host of exceptional game lodges.

Many referrals are from Perfect Hideaways property owners, and many of the properties we offer for sale are from our rental portfolio. After changing hands they often remain within the rental stable, allowing the new owners to generate the much-needed revenue that will allow them to renovate, refurb and add on the elements that will make the hideaway truly theirs!

OUR STORY

Once upon a time, along the magnetic coastline of the Côte d’Azur, a bright and bonny English rose, and a young gentleman from Johannesburg, met and fell in love. Helen and David Untiedt began their abiding journey together amidst the glitz and the glam of Monte Carlo. With its grand architecture, flashy hotels, fast cars and lavish boutiques, the sheer opulence of the yachting capital of the French Riviera is known to tire even the most tenacious of travellers. But with their feet firmly grounded, Helen and David embraced the Monégasque language, food and culture, and parlayed all that they were privy to, into an eternal love affair with travel – and everything that comes with it.

Leaving the gamblers and the glitterati behind, they set off around the world working on chartered yachts between Europe and America. Exploring the Spanish Balearic Islands, sailing around The Caribbean, cruising New England from the seats of a classic sports car, and discovering the not-so-beaten tracks of California, Nevada, New Orleans and even Venezuela, David and Helen experienced the wows and the woes that come with being on the road. To them, special moments don’t just come about when the doors to a luxury suite are swung open and the champagne’s ice bucket is twinkling in the sunlight that’s bouncing off the turquoise waters below. It’s also about the moments spent with the heart and soul of the destination. Eating local fare that’s been roasted outside a beach shack with a ragtag bunch of locals. Witnessing the ways of the world and all of its intricate disparities, and equalities.

With a handful of stamped passports, Helen and David chose to settle in Cape Town, where they have been residing for the past few decades, raising their four children. The beauty and diversity in South Africa’s cultures, languages, food and style make for an enthralling place to start a business, that’s centred around sensationally dreamy locations. A land that can be wholly African, but is not shy to be under the influence of foreign shores.
