Houseboat Uno, moored right near the Cape Grace Hotel in the Victoria & Alfred Marina, is our newest find…. And we are in love! Beautifully kitted out, this is berthed in a dream location in the Waterfront. Built to cruise the canals, Houseboat Uno is low and stable – a sleek navy-and-white design, much like the Dutch houseboats – offering a magical experience right in the heart of the city. No need to hire a car as you can walk or Uber everywhere, and, if you’re keen to explore the coastline, you simply need to arrange a boat trip into the bay.
For anyone attending conferences or trade shows at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), Houseboat Uno is a ten-minute walk away along our prettiest canals but if you’re here on holiday you’d start your day with a five-minute walk around the marina (past some of the most luxurious super yachts and catamarans) to buy freshly baked croissants and pastries. You can choose to breakfast there or come back to make fresh coffee and watch the seals and gulls while you eat breakfast. But come sundown, one of the absolute joys of staying there is you can watch the sun go down from your deck and then saunter over to one of the many restaurants at the Waterfront for dinner and walk back to the Marina, which is very secure. Your comfy double bed awaits in your cosy cabin, where gently lapping water and sea birds lull you to sleep. What more could you wish for in the heart of the city?
What we love!
