WHERE IS KOMMETJIE SITUATED?

The coastal village of Kommetjie, with its surrounding mountains and fresh sea air is a place that grabs your heart and won’t let go. Shaped by its natural beauty the village exudes a sense of peace and tranquility.

Situated between the Slangkop Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, Kommetjie is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt settings in Cape Town. Kommetjie is reached via Fish Hoek, or from Ou Kaapse Weg over the mountain, or along the scenic west coast route along Chapman’s Peak Drive.

BEACH SIDE LIVING IN KOMMETJIE

The Kommetjie lifestyle offers natural beauty, clean air, peacefulness, animal and birdlife while enjoying coastal walks, surfing, cycling, diving, crayfishing, whale watching, kite-surfing, mountain hikes, and more.

Kommetjie is also home to the country’s tallest cast-iron lighthouse, Slangkoppunt Lighthouse, built in 1919. A walkway takes one from the lighthouse to the ‘kom’ or basin, after which Kommetjie is named. This natural basin forms a little harbour perfect for small boats, and is one of the best sites on land from which to view seabirds.

Imhoff Farm along the way – with its converted farm buildings providing a bakery, tea garden, craft shops, art studios and cheese dairy. There are also camel and horse rides for children.

Hit the reset button and discover a fresh perspective on life, ensuring you return to the hustle and bustle refreshed and reinvigorated, ready to take on life on its terms. As the colours of the fynbos change, each season brings something new to behold.
